Microsoft and NVIDIA have jointly published a whitepaper introducing a shared risk taxonomy for open-weight model deployments in enterprise settings, grounded in ISO standards and the NIST AI Risk Management Framework. The paper argues that weight openness alone does not determine risk: deployment context, use case, and implemented safeguards are the determining factors. It is the first in a planned series of joint resources aimed at helping enterprises define who owns safeguard responsibility when running self-hosted model weights.
